About me
As a selected artist on the Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Roster, Angela Henderson Smith brings engaging, hands-on writing experiences to students across Texas through author visits, interactive workshops, and college readiness programs. Her placement on the Touring Roster allows Texas libraries and other eligible organizations to apply for grant funding to bring her author visits and writing programs to their communities.
She is a Dallas-based published author of three children’s books, including Isaac’s Ice Cream Tree, and a former English Language Arts teacher of thirteen years, eight of which were spent teaching in a Region 10 school district. She now works as an author, speaker, and writing coach.
Her programming spans from picture book to college prep: author visits for elementary students, interactive writing workshops for middle school students, and Write College Prep sessions focused on the college application essay process. Among other speaking engagements, Angela has presented at the Texas Library Association Annual Conference and served as a keynote speaker for the Texas Association of Literacy Educators Annual Conference. She continues her involvement with SCBWI North Texas after serving in leadership and is a nonprofit founder supporting single mothers in the Dallas community. A mother of three, she draws inspiration from her faith and family and continues her work rooted in those values.
